Man In Court Over Fatal Shooting Of Assel Al-Essaie
A man has made an appearance in court and been charged with assisting an offender in the fatal shooting of Assel Al-Essaie, 23, who died in hospital following being shot in the chest in Upper Thorpe on 18 February.
Matthew Cohen from Oughtibridge had been remained in custody and he has to appear at Sheffield Crown Court 13 June. Two men, both from Nottinghamshire had been arrested on suspicion of helping an offender but they have now been released on bail.
Fourteen arrests had been made in the murder of Assel Al-Essaie but Mr Cohen is going to be the first of them to have been charged. Al-Essaie was shot on Saturday 18 February at about 1pm.
Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to come forward.
